Eleven People Stuck in Cambridge High-Rise Elevator Rescued

At approximately 6 p.m. on March 7, the Cambridge Fire Department of Massachusetts responded to and rescued 11 people stuck in a high-rise elevator, Mass Live reports. The elevator shaft was a blind shaft, meaning the elevator was stuck in a position away from operating floors. The fire department used a rope system to extract those stuck in the elevator. One person needed evaluation after being rescued, but no other injuries were reported. On February 25, firefighters in Somervilleand Cambridge conducted hands-on training and reviewed elevator rescue procedures for a blind shaft elevator.
