Mitsubishi Electric Opens Dallas-Area Branch
Mitsubishi Electric Elevator & Escalator has opened an office at 631 South Royal Lane in Coppell, Texas, to serve the growing Dallas-Fort Worth area. Noting a Dodge Data & Analytics report shows North Texas construction hit record numbers in 2016 with almost US$21 billion in new construction starts, Mitsubishi Electric said the office will be its ninth nationwide. It will initially have approximately 15 employees, but that is expected to increase to at least 50 in the next several years. Michael Corbo, executive vice president and general manager of the division, stated:
“The level of sophistication of this area’s commercial architecture is noteworthy, and we see a natural fit for . . . our elevators and escalators. We know that Dallas-Fort Worth building owners demand the best equipment and service available to strengthen the operation and value of their buildings. We’re committed to this market, and see the new branch as a win-win as commercial construction continues to grow and thrive.”
Peelle Goes Big for Texas Naval Air Station
The Peelle Co. recently manufactured its largest biparting freight-elevator door ever, a 30-ft.-wide door for Naval Air Station Corpus Christi (NASCC) in Texas. Michael J. Ryan, Peelle’s vice president of Business Development, tells ELEVATOR WORLD the door was manufactured in Brampton, Canada, then delivered to NASCC, where it is being used to move helicopter rotors. The order included two 29-ft., 6-in.-X-8-ft. power biparting doors and one 29-ft., 8-in.-X-6-ft. power car door with a wireless control system. “It is most likely the largest biparting freight elevator door ever produced,” notes Ryan.
