ELEVATOR WORLD China Correspondent Peng Jie loves traveling around his country seeing its stunning natural beauty and amazing historical sites. Recently, he took a long drive to the famous Old Town of Lijiang in Lijiang City, a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage site in southwest Yunnan Province. Overlooking Old Town, which has a history dating back more than 800 years, is Lion Hill, with the Wangu Pavilion at its summit. This pavilion features intricate wooden construction and 10,000 dragon carvings. It also has impressive escalators that provide easy access to the scenic town below. Of course, your correspondent took advantage of the opportunity to ride them!
