Hard-Selling

Part of the approximately US$25,000 the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation raised at the 68th Annual Convention & 2017 Exposition of the National Association of Elevator Contractors (p. 54) came from its 50/50 raffle. Glenn Duncan, general manager of Parts Specialists Inc. and proud Elevator Riders Riding Club (ERRC) member, donned his leather and cap to visit all the booths. “Gimme 20” (for four tickets to the raffle) was his mantra. His and the rest of ERRC’s efforts resulted in US$1,065 for the Foundation, including generous winner Steve Ort of GAL Manufacturing Corp.’s donation of US$300 of his winnings back to the charity.

Since 1953, Elevator World, Inc. has been the premier publisher for the global vertical transportation industry. It employs specialists in Mobile, Alabama, and has technical and news correspondents around the world.
