Project Description

The Marina Bay Sands resort features three hotel towers, crowned by the Sands SkyPark bridging the towers. The lower buildings include a museum, retail space, convention and exhibition center, two theaters and a casino. Due to its advantageous location, it is expected to act as catalyst for future developments in the area. Completed in just two-and-a-half years, the building was constructed in a unique way. First, one part of the building was made leaning to one side, then the other side was built, straightening the other side. An additional challenge was the roof architecture, which prevented the use of standard elevator machine rooms. The three 57-story towers are inclined in the lower sections, which presented a challenge with the elevator shafts. However, KONE managed, and installed 152 elevators that serve both hotels and podium, and 10 escalators.
