Photo Contest 2024

Photo Contest 2024

Twelfth annual photography competition showcases the art of VT.

Once again, ELEVATOR WORLD’s annual photo contest received an impressive number of submissions, which garnered thousands of votes on the EW website. Our team of expert judges had their work cut out for them as they poured over the many deserving entries in 11 categories. Ultimately, this year’s winning images depict the multifaceted world of vertical transportation (VT) with striking artistic flair.

In the City Skylines and Tall Buildings category, we see stunning vistas from Baku, Azerbaijan, and Vancouver, Canada, as well as high-rises in NYC and Atlanta, Georgia. Winners from the Elevators/Lifts, Commercial and Elevators/Lifts, Private Residence categories highlight how lifts can be designed to blend seamlessly into any background — often adding to the aesthetic appeal of a space. Three colorful, imaginative shots were chosen from the Escalators and Moving Walks category, with an image named “Stairway to Heaven” taking first place. We were delighted to see quite a few new names among the winning photographers, and it’s interesting to note that the metadata for several of these photos indicate that they were taken on smartphones. As one elevator mechanic noted with his submission, VT professionals are often given access to extraordinary and unique views. Please enjoy the winning photographs from the EW 2024 Photo Contest, and consider submitting your own snapshots next year!
