The nonprofit CAN in Automation (CiA) association’s upcoming webinars include Functional Safety and CANopen on June 5 and CANopen Lift Status and the Future on October 1. The first 1-h webinar, planned to start at 3 p.m. UTC, will briefly introduce attendees to functional safety and provide an overview of CAN solutions. Speakers will provide insights about CiA 319 — CANopen implementation and configuration for safety-related devices — and talk about the current status of the CANopen safety update to EN-50325.5. The CANopen Lift Status and the Future webinar will introduce attendees to CiA and, specifically, CiA 417 — the application profile for lift control systems that specifies communication interfaces for lift units and lift control units including the drive, door controllers, input/output controllers, load-measuring device, car positioning system, light barriers and more. This webinar is scheduled for 3-4 p.m. UTC. CiA webinars are free of charge, but registration is required.
