The elevator lost control during operation, falling from the 17th floor to the basement level before rapidly ascending to the 33rd floor and colliding with the lift shaft ceiling. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The elevator has been in service since January 2014 and was last inspected in the fall of 2024, according to reports.
