U.K.-based Foster + Partners has released images of its first project in the Chinese seaport and financial center of Qingdao, Building Design is among outlets to report. The mixed-use 1 Nanjing Road will contain office space in both low- and high-level zones and a three-story clubhouse for workers, residents and members. The uppermost levels of the building will contain 105 luxury apartments, with cantilevered terraces and fully glazed corners offering 15-m-wide panoramic views out to sea. According to Arch Daily, the tower will have car-free public space connecting the surroundings and the nearby waterfront. To achieve this, drop-off areas have been designed along the outer perimeter of the site. Fosters said the tower would be 240 m tall, and the renderings suggest somewhere between 60 to 70 stories. The project is targeting three-star green building certification, LEED V4 and WELL V2.
