KONE recently won two orders to provide a total of 57 escalators for nine stations along two new lines of the Stockholm Metro in Sweden. Serving the Arenastaden and Södra Hagalund stations on the new yellow line will be 22 TransitMasterTM escalators. KONE observed Arenastaden is “already a fully sustainable city district with top-quality housing, offices, hotels and high-class transport links.” The Södra Hagalund station will have two entrances: one to Solna and the other to the Södra Hagalund Industrial District. For the blue line, consisting of seven new stations between Kungsträdgården and Nacka/Söderort, KONE is providing 35 TransitMaster escalators. These units will have special customer requirements, including a direct-drive solution over 40 m of vertical rise for the yellow line and more than 30 m of vertical rise for the blue line. Designed by lead architect WSP, the lines are expected to go into operation starting in 2028.
