Prague To Begin Charging Fee for Riding City Hall Paternoster

Starting in June, visitors who wish to ride the vintage paternoster lift at Prague City Hall must pay 250 Czech crowns, or the equivalent of approximately US$11, to do so, Radio Prague International reports. The “infinity,” jump-on, jump-off lift has become a major tourist attraction, and some tourists don’t respect safety instructions or capacity limits, Prague City Spokeswoman Lenkak Davidová tells the source. The paternoster will be operated by Prague City Tourism, and riding it will be part of a guided tour of the City Hall complex. Revenue will go, in part, toward maintaining the early 20th-century paternoster, which has been subject to a lot of wear and tear.
