During the December 12 meeting of the Ellis County Commissioners Court, purchase of a new Schindler Elevator was approved to replace the inoperable one at Ellis County Central in Texas in the amount of US$147,769, The Waxahachie Sun reports. The elevator was not economically feasible to repair due to its age and parts no longer being available. The estimate was US$170,000 to refurbish it. A US$25,000 credit will be given back to the county, so ultimately, the new elevator will cost US$122,769. The request for approval was for the full amount, so the elevator could be paid for and installed. The new elevator will go into the same shaft that held the old one.
