Vancouver Station to Get New Vertical-Transportation Equipment

TransLink, operator of SkyTrain rail station at Brentwood Town Centre, Vancouver, Canada, is set to add escalators, a new elevator, more space and better connections, Mass Transit reports. The station is set to undergo major upgrades in the coming weeks as TransLink works to improve accessibility and customer flow, with upgrades aimed at improving customer access and enhancing customer connections to bus service, a nearby mall and many residential buildings. The project will include a new elevator at the street level; an expanded mezzanine, a pair of new escalators, improvement on the staircase and lighting; and more. TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn noted that the neighborhood around Brentwood Town Centre Station is one of the fastest growing areas. The station’s south entrance will be closed to customers, and those who normally use that entrance will be directed to the nearby entrance instead. The project work is estimated at CAD32.6 million (US$25 million). Work is set to begin in April and complete in 2024.
