LG Uplus Corp., a major wireless carrier, and Hyundai Elevator Co., South Korea’s No. 1 lift manufacturer, recently announced that they will distribute safety devices that make use of Internet of Things (IoT) technology to elevator installation workers, The Korea Bizwire reports. The two companies jointly developed smart safety management systems, including IoT sensor safety hats, rings, belts, exclusive applications for elevator installers and control platforms after signing a business agreement earlier this year. The new system analyzes if workers have appropriately tightened their safety hat chinstraps or are wearing safety rings when installing elevators in high places. It is also able to prevent falls by informing them if any of their equipment has been put on incorrectly.
