The Bank branch of the London Northern line of the Tube reopened on May 16 following a 17-week construction period that saw completion of the Northern line tunnel and passenger concourse at Bank Underground station, RailTech.com reports. Excavation work and track installation was completed, including an additional 100 m of tunnel and 185 m of track. The work was carried out as part of the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project, which has been ongoing since 2016. The project is due to be delivered this summer. The project team at Bank station will now be looking to install three new escalators linking the Northern line to the Docklands Light Railway. In addition, two moving walkways and three escalators will be installed for connections to the Northern and Central lines. As a finishing touch, improved signage and contrast cladding will also be added.
