49-Story Residential Tower Envisioned in Toronto’s Quayside

Plaza Partners has filed applications with the City of Toronto to build a 49-story, 430-unit residential tower designed by local architect BDP Quadrangle at 307 Lakeshore Boulevard East in the “much-discussed” Quayside neighborhood, Storeys reported in May. The plan includes 700 m2 of community space, 1,500 m2 of indoor amenity space on the top four floors and more than 300 m2 of outdoor amenities. A rendering shows a series of angled, recessed balconies for the residences. Once planned to house an innovative and controversial “smart city” called Sidewalk Labs, the area is currently barren except for a low-rise commercial site. A local real estate executive said Plaza Partners’ plan, if realized, would boost confidence in the community. He also observed that the proximity of George Brown College would appeal to investors seeking to rent to students.
