Sweden’s Alimak Group recently announced it is partnering with Torre de Collserola — a project of historic significance in Barcelona, Spain — to modernize the two Alimak elevators initially installed in 1992 for the Barcelona Olympic Games and designed by famed architect Norman Foster. Torre de Collserola is served by two elevators: one for service personnel and materials (including large parabolic antennas) with a payload capacity of 2000 kg and the other to take visitors to a viewing deck at 145 m up that has a capacity of 2000 kg or 26 people. Slated for completion in mid-2024, the modernization will enhance the elevators’ performance, improve safety features and provide a more comfortable ride for service personnel and visitors.
