In recognition of World Book Day on March 7, Battersea Power Station’s unique glass elevator experience, Lift 109 in London, plans to host the “Sky-High Reading Nook,” which will transform the landmark chimney lift into a tranquil reading nook for a “book-tasting” for those older than 18. From the top of the landmark’s northwest chimney, visitors will be guided through a curated selection of books chosen by neighboring bookstore Battersea Bookshop, and leave with the title of their choice. The Sky-High Reading Nook is the latest installment of “Lift 109 Lates,” a series of special, after-hours events hosted by the attraction. Including a soft drink, the Lift 109 ride and the guest’s chosen book, tickets are GBP45 (US$57), and early bookings are encouraged. Boasting breathtaking views of the London skyline, the unique glass elevator was custom-designed by Otis.
