Elderly Woman Dies in Elevator Accident in Belize

A 76-year-old Belizean American passed away after an elevator accident on the afternoon of January 20 in San Pedro, Belize, 7 News Belize reports. The woman was using the elevator in a residential community in San Pedro Town when the chain reportedly snapped, causing it to fall from the fourth to the first floor at a high speed. The victim was badly injured and taken to the Ambergris Hopes Clinic before being transferred to the Belize Specialist Clinic, where she succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment. Police are investigating the incident to see if any criminal negligence occurred.
