Seven people were injured after an elevator fell from the 14th floor to the ground floor at the Millennium Tower building in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, The Citizen reports. Initial investigations suggest that the crash was caused by passengers exceeding the weight limits, but other reports say the lift was faulty and had been sealed off for some time. The accident has triggered debates and concerns about safety issues in high-rise buildings in the city, according to the source. The seven hurt, who are all men, were part of a group attending a workshop in one of the building’s conference facilities. They were transported to Kariuki Hospital with injuries ranging from broken limbs to psychological shock. The owner of the building said in a statement that they will cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.
