Elevator Work Continues In Brooke County Courthouse
Crews are working to replace the elevator of the county courthouse in Wellsburg, West Virginia, The Weirton Daily Times reported on November 24. The Brooke County Commission held a meeting in a records storage room on the first floor of the courthouse, which is also being used to store elevator parts and the equipment necessary to install the new Schindler elevator. The project costs US$113,500, and US$100,000 of that is being funded through a grant from the state Courthouse Facilities Improvement Council; the county has also provided a 20% match. The work is expected to take several weeks, and the commission is encouraging those with mobility issues to see if their business can be conducted by phone, email or online.
