In Memoriam: Fauston Thomas Bonnie

Bonnie

Fauston Thomas “Bill” Bonnie, a lifelong elevator mechanic who worked at Haughton, Montgomery and Otis, passed away in late 2022 at age 87. A native of Wisconsin and a U.S. Air Force veteran, Bonnie had a passion for repairing elevators, hard work, patriotic duty, guns, fishing and hunting. Bonnie was not one for living in one place too long and would move from Los Angeles to San Jose to Redding in California, as well as various places in Nevada. He was once asked how he would like to be remembered. He said, “As the best damn elevator repair man who ever did it.” He always made sure to get the latest copy of ELEVATOR WORLD and enjoyed reading it. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Carol; children, Juliet Santoro, Jennifer Liso, William Bonnie, Joseph Bonnie and Daniel Bonnie; and four grandchildren. — submitted by the Bonnie family
