Emphasizing safer alternatives to trespassing on railroad tracks, including taking elevators and escalators, was part of a comprehensive awareness campaign conducted by India’s Central Railway on April 4-5 as part of its “Mission Zero Death” initiative, outlets including The Free Press Journal report. The Safety Department of Mumbai division led the effort, conducted at various locations such as the Chunabhatti and Level Crossing at Kurla stations. Foot overbridges, road overbridges, lifts and escalators are how one should navigate the railway system, a message communicated through pamphlets, banners and street theater performances that depicted “the consequences of trespassing through dramatic performances by actors portraying Yamraj (the god of death) and Chitragupta (the divine scribe).”
