Lift Mechanic Dies in Incident in India Building

A 27-year-old lift mechanic was crushed to death after being caught between an elevator car and a wall while fixing an elevator in a five-story commercial building in Sector 41 in Gurgaon, India, the Times of India reports. An inspector reported that the senser of the lift was reportedly malfunctioning. The elevator car had stopped on the fourth floor and the victim was examining the safety doors on the second floor when the elevator came down suddenly. Fire officials had to use tools to open the door to the space to get to the victim.
