Travelers navigating Miami International Airport (MIA) during the holiday travel rush are finding vertical-transportation (VT) equipment out of service, Bollyinside reports. Fifty elevators, escalators and moving walkways are currently undergoing upgrades or total replacements as part of a five-year contract won by Schindler in July 2023. MIA’s 10-year renovation plan includes 372 pieces of VT equipment, with an average of 30 to 40 units undergoing work each year. Elevators are a priority in the renovation efforts, addressing ADA compliance issues.
