Nine new escalators and five lifts are a key part of the new “fully accessible” Crows Nest Metro Station in Sydney, Australia, the New South Wales government (NSW) reports. More than 5,300 people worked in excess of 1.14 million hours to transform a “an empty station box 25 m below ground” into the Crows Nest Metro Station, which will significantly reduce travel times to top locations in north Sydney once it opens later this year, according to NSW. Work is entering the home stretch, with the station’s exterior brick façade, new landscaping and footpaths taking shape. The new station, which will take passengers under Sydney Harbour to Barangaroo in 5 min and to Martin place in 7 min, is part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project.
