NYC Cancer Center Planned by Memorial Sloan Kettering
A planned medical tower on the Upper East Side, Manhattan, NYC, will bring a 31-story pavilion known as Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Cancer Center, the organization group, Patch reports. The 200-bed cancer care building is set to rise within MSK’s main campus, though the exact site was not specified. It was not clear whether any demolition would be needed. The tower is set to bring 28 operating and procedure suites, and will feature “advanced technology,” including robotics and other digital infrastructure. A solicitation for the architect for the design has not yet been sent out, as the project remains in the early design phase. The organization did specify that the pavilion will be LEED-certified as environmentally friendly. MSK has said the project is responding to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) statements noting cancer cases will rise by nearly 50% in the U.S. by 2050, due to population growth and aging. It is set to be completed around 2030, connecting via a bridge to MSK’s main hospital building.
