In partnership with market research company Statista, Forbes released its World’s Top Female-Friendly Companies list in November. Among the 400 recognized are U.S.-based Otis and Switzerland’s Schindler, which ranked 306 and 73, respectively. In announcing the recognition, Otis said multinational organizations were ranked by approximately 85,000 female employees’ responses to questions about gender equality, career advancement opportunities, parental leave and more. Otis Chief People Officer Abbe Luersman observed that Otis “aspires to build a workforce that mirrors the diversity of our customers and the communities where we live and work.” Recognized companies either peripherally involved or with divisions in the vertical-transportation industry included Japanese conglomerates Hitachi and Toshiba, ranking 104 and 289, respectively; Sweden’s Skanska (72) and Switzerland’s Bucher Industries (245).
