Pensacola Airport: Elevators, Escalators Running Again

The director of the Pensacola International Airport in Pensacola, Florida, says both the facility’s escalators and five elevators are up and running again, WEAR News reports. The announcement comes a few weeks after reports about all the airport’s vertical-transportation (VT) equipment being broken, complicating travel, especially for those with disabilities. The airport director said a combination of more travelers and fewer COVID-19 restrictions stressed the VT mechanical systems. The airport replaced the aging escalators’ motor and brake systems, and plans to install completely new escalators in the next two years.
