Plans Submitted for 36-Story Tower in London
3XN Architects has submitted plans for a 36-story office tower by the Walkie Talkie in the City of London, Architects’ Journal reports. Working with developers Sellar and Obayashi Properties, 3XN wants to demolish an eight-story building at 60 Gracechurch Street and replace it with a “calm, elegant” tower. The new skyscraper would provide roughly 40,000m² of office space across 32 stories, topped by three stories of plant. The ground floor would feature access to offices, as well as a café and access to a public terrace. 3XN said the tower comprises “three main elements”: a 28-story tower atop a two-story portico and a six-story podium. Plans for the 3XN tower on Gracechurch Street were first unveiled in April, with further details shown off at a second round of public consultation in May. If planning is approved, work on the scheme is expected to begin in 2026, with completion in 2029.
