At the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat 2022 International Conference on November 9-12 in Chicago, Schindler representatives will discuss the future of the vertical-transportation industry, why sustainability and efficiency are becoming more important and Schindler solutions that address specific needs: sustainability, efficiency, safety, flexibility and energy-efficiency. In light of the World Bank predicting that nearly 70% of the population will live in cities by 2050 and Schindler sharing the philosophy that people will live, work and play in a few — or even just one — tall building, the OEM plans to highlight its General Purpose Elevator System. The system serves multiple areas (for example, residential and office) at once and can be adapted to change throughout a building’s lifecycle, granting “an unparalleled assurance of future flexibility.” Schindler also plans to showcase its robotic R.I.S.E (Robotic Installation System for Elevators), CLIMB Lift external hoist alternative, PORT (Personal Occupant Requirement Terminal) destination-dispatch system, CoLab, which provides open interfaces between PORT and external partners, and more. “State-of-the-art vertical-transportation systems are the beating heart — and even the brain — of new future-ready structures,” Schindler Head of Transit Management & Digital Eco-Systems Florian Trösch says. “So Schindler aims to ensure that buildings are adaptable to whatever the future holds.”
