TK Elevator (TKE) announced on May 8 its vertical-transportation (VT) equipment is a key part of the CIBC Square development, which includes Toronto’s 141 Bay Street — at 50 stories the tallest office building under construction in Canada. This tower will be served by 36 gearless passenger, four high-density and four service elevators paired with AGILE destination dispatch, along with eight escalators. The two-tower CIBC Square is a 3 million-ft2 development that includes the 49-story 81 Bay Street office tower, which opened in 2022. Including a first-of-its-kind elevated public park and pedestrian bridge connecting to Union Station and Scotiabank Arena, 81 Bay Street is served by 10 TKE escalators and 49 elevators, including 32 gearless passenger cars, four geared high-density passenger cars, four service elevators and nine machine-room-less, gearless traction synergy elevators for retail and bus terminal access. TKE is the service provider for the VT equipment at both towers.
