Two Dead After Elevator Falls 38 Floors at Office Tower

Two workers were killed when the defective elevator car they were replacing on the 38th floor of an office building in Makati City, Manila, Philippines, fell to the basement, Yahoo News reported on July 17. Authorities said the two men were doing repair work when the fall occurred. Two others, working on a sixth-floor elevator, were hit by the falling structure but survived the incident. After several hours of work at the site, the victims’ bodies were removed. Officials said the death and injuries occurred on July 8. Investigations on the cause of the fall are ongoing.
