Two High-Speed Elevators for Historic Theater in Buffalo

Two high-speed, six-stop elevators are coming to the historic Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, New York, Buffalo Rising reports. Aimed at improving accessibility, the units will be part of a five-story, 36,340-ft2 tower designed by local firm Kideney Architects that will be added to the theater’s south side. The elevators will provide access to the upper-seating level, 2,800-ft2 of basement-level storage space, restrooms on various floors, the theater’s entrance and concession areas. The tower project includes a significantly expanded Members’ Lounge, a large corporate event space and office space, all encased in a masonry façade of architectural terra cotta and aluminum composite. The project is expected to move forward after a review by the Buffalo Preservation Board.
