Campbell County School District board members have been asked to approve bids to modernize one elevator each at Campbell County High School and Thunder Basin High School in Wyoming due to age and condition, County 17 reports. Both elevators are original to the buildings, and the manufacturer is TK Elevator. Norton Construction and Silver Nail Construction were the sole bidders, according to school officials. For Campbell County High School, Norton Construction’s bid, which was US$232,000, has been recommended. Bids for Thunder Basin’s elevator modernization were US$214,700 from Norton Construction and US$209,437 from Silver Nail Construction. The replacements are being funded with state major maintenance monies. Replacing the elevator at Campbell County High School will resolve the issue where the principal has had to carry students with mobility challenges downstairs when the elevator was not working. While Thunder Basin has had fewer problems with its elevator, the elevator has still broken down a few times. The computer board needs replacement, and the original part is no longer made. The elevators would be replaced in summer 2024.
