As part of a push to make the Canary Wharf megadevelopment on London’s Isle of Dogs more residential, Canary Wharf Group unveiled plans for a 55-story tower with more than 600 homes, Housing Today reports. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Park Place would rise on a vacant lot on the development’s western edge and include 624 rentals that are a mix of market and “affordable.” The plan also incorporates a four-story pavilion with remote-working facilities and cultural and retail space. The site was approved in 2015 for an office tower, but now fresh planning permission is sought for residential. Canary Wharf’s Wood Wharf residential scheme by Allies and Morrison aims to provide more than 3,600 new homes, a school and a hospital. A 327-home development, Canary Wharf’s first build-to-rent scheme, opened in February, and a 38-story, 900-home tower from Hadley Property Group was also recently approved.
