South Korea Elevators Inspected Ahead of Lunar New Year

The South Korea Ministry of the Interior and Safety said it conducted special inspections on elevators at 18 major train stations ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, ChosunBiz reports. A total of 515 elevators at the 18 stations were subject to inspection. The inspections were to verify the operational status of elevator safety devices with any non-compliance expected to be addressed before the Lunar New Year holiday. Additionally, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, including the Lunar New Year holiday, will operate a situation response team in cooperation with the Korea Elevator Safety Agency from January 25 to February 2 to ensure a prompt response in the event of elevator accidents.
