The proposal for new skywalks at Outer Ring, Mysuru and Old Madras roads, among other busy streets, would bring the city's total number of skywalks from 64 to 75. BBMP, which has constructed three skywalks so far, says it installed lifts and escalators on 55 of the city's skywalks to enhance accessibility. The Bangalore Development Authority has built nine skywalks so far, handing them over to BBMP for maintenance. The remaining 52 were built by private entities under the public/private partnership model in exchange for having the rights to display advertising on them.
