The NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) unveiled three elevators modernized by Otis at the 161 Street-Yankee Stadium subway station in the Bronx ahead of New York Yankees' Major League Baseball opening day on March 25. Part of larger safety and accessibility upgrades throughout the MTA system, the elevators serve the street to the mezzanine and the mezzanine to the platform. Work included full replacement of the cabs and associated equipment; a new elevator head house with a street-level canopy; modernization of the machine room, encompassing all electrical and mechanical equipment; and upgrades to the remote-monitoring, fire-alarm, intercom and camera systems. "These modernized elevators are a major improvement for Yankee fans and Bronx riders, making it easier and more convenient to take the train to the game this season," MTA Construction and Development President Jamie Torres-Springer said.
