Minnesota Elevator, Inc. (MEI), a leading manufacturer of custom engineered-to-order elevator packages, on February 11 announced it acquired Smart Elevator Tech, LLC, a premier provider of pit ladders and related components. MEI is headquartered in Mankato, Minnesota, and Smart Elevator Tech in the San Francisco Bay area. Maven Group assisted Smart Elevator Tech in the transaction. MEI President Rick Lowenberg described Smart Elevator Tech as a "strong strategic fit" for the company, enhancing its parts sales division offerings and providing "a solution that meets ongoing code-related changes related to safe access to elevator pits." Smart Elevator Tech was founded in 2010 by Rich Blaska and has been owned and operated by Blaska and Margaret Lourenço, company president, widely known in the industry as "The Ladder Lady." Together, they built a reputation for exceptional customer service and high-quality, code-compliant pit-ladder products. Blaska and Lourenço will continue to be involved in the business as MEI integrates it into its operations.
