Vertical-transportation (VT) industry veteran Christopher Short has joined the Wurtec team as director of Connected Elevator Solutions, Wurtec recently announced. Short has more than 20 years' experience in VT contracting, with a proven track record of leadership, Wurtec observed. With a BA in communication studies from the University of Connecticut, Short began his career in retail management, joining the VT industry in 2005 with Brown Elevator Co. in Bridgeport, Connecticut as a service sales manager. He progressed to director of Sales, director of Operations, president and, ultimately, CEO of Southern Elevator Co. in Raleigh, North Carolina, through his tenure of more than 16 years. Short has also held roles including founder and president of LiftCom and vice president of South Jersey Elevator. In his new role with Wurtec, which is based in Toledo, Ohio, Short is responsible for building "the roadmap for our line of connected products and smart elevator systems," Wurtec said.
