Otis has been selected by the Marseilles Metropolitan Transport Authority (Régie des Transports Métropolitains [RTM]) in France to fully replace and maintain 51 escalators across 10 metro stations, Otis Chair, CEO and President Judy Marks said during an earnings conference call on April 22.The scope includes installation of 35 heavy-duty escalators and 16 additional escalators engineered for the most demanding environments. Able to handle very high passenger volumes across one of France's busiest metro networks, the units will feature significant vertical rise. RTM comprises two lines, partly underground, serving 31 stations with an overall route length of 22.7 km. Line 1 opened in 1977, followed by Line 2 in 1984.
