EGL Elevators SAGL is the newest branch of an innovative Italian company built upon the combined expertise of professionals with several decades of experience in both technical and commercial leadership roles within leading multinational elevator manufacturers. EGL Elevators was founded in 2022, with EGL Elevators SAGL opening in 2024 in Novazzano, Switzerland, upon being awarded a major contract to modernize 19 lifts across the United Nations (UN) compound in Geneva, Switzerland. While the company itself represents a new entrepreneurial venture, its foundations are firmly rooted in extensive international industry know-how, engineering excellence and a deep understanding of complex vertical-transportation (VT) projects.

EGL’s headquarters, engineering center and manufacturing facilities are located in Milan, Italy, where it continues to develop and produce VT solutions to the highest standards of Italian engineering and craftsmanship. The company established EGL Elevators SGLA to strengthen both its commercial and operational presence in one of Europe’s most strategic markets, particularly within the luxury segment and the highly customized elevator sector.

This regional branch was originally opened to directly support the major modernization contract at the UN. The Swiss location allows EGL to provide even closer support to end users, contractors, architects, developers and institutional clients like the UN and the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Geneva.

Rather than competing on volume, EGL Elevators has deliberately positioned itself within a niche that demands tailor-made engineering solutions. Every project begins with understanding the customer’s vision and technical challenges before developing an elevator specifically designed for its environment and intended use.

Over the years, EGL has had the privilege of contributing to a number of prestigious international projects. Among the references it is authorized to mention are VT installations for NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) facilities, Køge University Hospital in Denmark and the new Policlinico di Milano, currently one of Europe’s largest hospital developments.

The company has also supplied solutions for Rolex flagship stores and collaborated with internationally renowned architectural firms including Renzo Piano Building Workshop and American architect Greg Lynn. In addition, EGL serves a number of private clients whose identities remain confidential due to privacy agreements.

A significant part of its business consists of partnerships with major international elevator OEMs. One notable recent example is EGL’s collaboration with Otis Brazil for the inclined elevators serving the Christ the Redeemer monument in Rio de Janeiro — one of the world’s most iconic structures served by an incredibly complex VT system.
