Los viajeros de la estación Bekasi en Indonesia adoptaron un enfoque creativo para expresar su frustración por una escalera mecánica that has remained broken for more than 100 days. In an appeal to draw rail operator PT KAI Commuter's attention to the out-of-service equipment, protestors assembled a makeshift memorial to its "life" at the top of the moving stairs. A floral wreath was placed with the inscription "condolences for the death of the Bekasi Station escalator," and a flower-covered cardboard box resembling a tomb was added.

While this display of mock mourning could seem like an act of passive-aggression, a Commuter Line user from South Tangerang named Berlian Idris noted that his intentions were good. "We don't want to embarrass the KAI, so this is not aimed at embarrassing certain parties, especially the KAI," Idris said. "We only want better public services."
