Nigeria State to No Longer Allow Three-Story Buildings Without Elevators

The Abia State government in Nigeria has warned developers that they will no longer get approval for three-story buildings that do not have an elevator, the Nigerian Tribune reports. Government officials said this is for safety and to keep the buildings “habitable for users and owners.” Officials continued, saying, “The move aims to eliminate building collapses, protect lives and properties and ensure the construction of environmentally friendly buildings.” The building control unit will ensure stage-by-stage monitoring and supervision of building projects to maintain high standards.
