Railway Station in South India with VT Inaugurated

South Western Railway’s (SWR) Gadag Railway Station in Hubballi in the south Indian state of Karnataka, served by four pieces of vertical-transportation (VT) equipment — two elevators and two escalators — was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on May 22, SWR spokesman Manujath Kanamadi told the Times of India. The redeveloped station features a newly constructed building, a spacious waiting hall, food court and 12-m-wide foot overbridge. Kanamadi said the station, designed to be disabled-friendly, now ranks among the best in terms of passenger amenities. Drinking water facilities are available on all platforms, construction materials have been cleared and there are “no safety hazards,” Kanamadi observed.
