TK Elevator (TKE) supplied 102 vertical-transportation (VT) units for the new Terminal 3B at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG) in China. The units include passenger elevators, panoramic machine-room-less elevators with a maximum capacity of 3 t and heavy-duty freight elevators capable of handling up to 9 t. The latest VT installations build on an existing relationship that includes 201 TKE VT units in Terminal 3Q and a footprint of more than 400 units across CKG, a vital air traffic hub in western China. Inaugurated in April, the new Terminal 3B is the world’s largest standalone airport satellite hall, spanning 363,000 m2 and featuring sustainable architectural features such as thermal dimming glass, optimized natural lighting and advanced insulation. CKG handles up to 80 million passengers annually.
