Refurbishment of oversized lift entrances

by Liam Cousins

The Challenge

The Bank of America’s London office required a modern and refreshed look for its large lift entrances, each measuring more than 2.5 m tall. These entrances had become dated and worn, detracting from the overall aesthetics of the office. KONE entrusted REEX Group with the task of delivering a transformation that would bring these lifts back to life.

Adding to the challenge was the need to minimise disruption. The Bank of America is a busy workplace, and operations couldn’t be interrupted. Therefore, all works had to be completed out of hours, ensuring the lifts were fully functional for employees by the next working day.

This updated look aligned perfectly with the professional and contemporary style of the Bank of America’s office.

The Solution

REEX Group developed a tailored plan to deliver a seamless refurbishment while adhering to the bank’s operational needs. Our process included:

  1. Careful Preparation
The oversized lift entrances were thoroughly prepared by smoothing out scratches, filling dents and cleaning surfaces to ensure optimal adhesion for the new finish. Given the size of the doors, precision and attention to detail were crucial.
  2. A Modern Black Finish
Using our high-quality vinyl resurfacing techniques, we transformed the lift entrances with a sleek, modern black finish. This updated look aligned perfectly with the professional and contemporary style of the Bank of America’s office.
  3. Out-of-Hours Work
To avoid disrupting the bank’s operations, all works were completed overnight. By morning, employees arrived to find their lifts completely transformed with no impact on their daily activities.

The Outcome

The results were exceptional. The once dated and worn lift entrances now feature a clean, modern design that complements the prestigious setting of the Bank of America’s office.

Feedback from both KONE and the bank’s team highlighted the success of the project. Employees were impressed by the transformation, which was carried out so seamlessly they didn’t even notice the work being done.
