A man died after he accidentally fell into the shaft of a faulty elevator at an apartment complex on Ayodhya Road in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, on July 24, the Hindustan Times reports. The 54-year-old man was staying on the fifth floor of the Sai Yash Residences in Unnao Kalan with his daughter for medical treatment, police said. According to police, after the man pressed the lift button to go to the terrace at approximately 5:30 p.m., the doors opened, but the elevator had not arrived on the floor yet.
