Las Vegas-based ONYX is working to redefine the escalator handrail industry.

In a fast-moving world, the escalator handrail business isn’t just about parts — it’s about keeping people and places connected. ONYX is working to redefine what that looks like, leading with high-quality products, improved speed and a partnership-first mindset. Built from the ground up, the escalator handrail company was founded in 2024 after several vertical-transportation (VT) industry contacts were searching for a solution and reached out to co-founders Alex Warnsholz and Markus Hierzberger. With a mission to simplify processes and deliver real solutions, ONYX has already created a positive reputation for itself in the VT industry — and it’s just getting started.

Precision Products, Made To Perform

Every ONYX handrail is manufactured to meet the highest standards of quality and durability. From material selection to final inspection, the company maintains strict quality controls to ensure consistency and performance under pressure. Its goal is to engineer products that perform better, last longer and are easier to install, splice and service in the field.

ONYX specializes in providing clients with premium escalator handrails, expert field splicing, custom vulcanizing molds, complete splice kits, comprehensive splice training and certification, handrail cleaning products and stock planning and technical consultation services.

Rooted in Service, Built for Speed

ONYX was founded on the idea that escalator service could — and should — move faster. With same-day shipping, realtime inventory and nationwide field support, the company has built a reputation for delivering when it matters most.

Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, ONYX offers:

  • Same-day shipping and stocked inventory across key handrail profiles
  • Field splicing services available nationwide
  • Custom supply programs for large-scale clients
  • Streamlined ordering and digital support

ONYX prides itself on having a reputation for being easy to work with — a responsive, solutions-driven team that submitted by ONYX understands the urgency of escalator downtime and works to prevent it before it happens.

Efficiency Backed by Automation

ONYX is committed to modern manufacturing. Automation plays a growing role in its operations, reducing variability, increasing throughput and allowing the team to focus more on innovation and service.

This automation doesn’t replace human expertise, say its founders. It enhances it, freeing up ONYX’s skilled technicians and engineers to focus on craftsmanship, quality control and customer support.

According to ONYX Operations Manager Warnsholz:

“We don’t believe in cutting corners. We believe in doing it right — and doing it fast. That’s why we’ve invested in automation and process improvements that make our products better and our service seamless.”

A Long-Term Partner

ONYX is committed to building lasting partnerships in the VT industry — offering not only handrails, but full support solutions that reduce costs, simplify operations and keep escalators running smoothly.

Through its customer portal, clients get 24/7 access to quoting, order history, documentation and live updates. With tailored inventory planning and technical consulting, ONYX helps service providers and facility managers stay ahead — not just react.

According to ONYX President Hierzberger:

“We measure success in trust, not transactions. If we’re doing our job right, we’re the partner you don’t have to worry about — because we’ve already handled it.”

Looking Ahead: New Facility and 2026 Expansion

New Plant With Eight Production Lines Opening Soon

Later this year, ONYX will move into a brand-new manufacturing facility in Las Vegas designed to scale operations and support in future growth. The new plant will feature:

  • Eight advanced production lines
  • State-of-the-art automation and precision equipment
  • Dedicated zones for R&D and training
  • Expanded warehouse and fulfillment capacity

Providing greater production capacity, increased automation, expanded in-house capabilities, state-of-the-art product testing equipment, new job creation and room to grow into additional business areas, the new facility will increase ONYX’s ability to serve North and South America. The facility will increase output, reduce lead times and support new product lines.

Projects Coming in 2026

Looking toward 2026, ONYX has several major initiatives in development, including:

  • Next-generation handrails focused on sustainability and performance
  • Enhanced customer tech tools to manage projects and assets seamlessly
  • Investments in workforce development and communitybased training

According to Hierzberger and Warnsholz, these moves aren’t just about growth — they’re about future-proofing a business built to last.

People First, Always

What drives ONYX isn’t just products or plants — it’s people, says Hierzberger. From field techs to production leads to customer support, ONYX invests in a culture where employees are supported, empowered and proud of the work they do.

That same people-first mindset applies to customers, said Hierzberger. Whether it’s a fast turnaround, a last-minute request or a long-term strategy, ONYX shows up with solutions and eases the process.

According to Hierzberger:

“Our customers rely on us to make their jobs easier, not harder. We take that seriously, and it’s a big reason we’ve grown the way we have. You get speed, quality and people who actually care.”

ONYX’s Commitment to Keep Moving

As infrastructure ages and demand grows, the need for responsive, high-quality escalator support is more important than ever. “ONYX is meeting that need with agility, vision and a long-term commitment to excellence,” said Hierzberger. “Because escalators don’t stop. And neither does ONYX.”
